The concept of Media Literacy has really had a transformative power in my teaching career and as it turns out, in my life! I am not only a more effective teacher, but I believe that I am a better Sunday School teacher and youth worker, a more informed consumer, as well as a better parent, all because of the knowledge gained through this program.
I first came to learn about media literacy through the "Democracy and Diversity" workshop at Appalachian in the Summer of 2008. That workshop inspired me to not only become a better teacher through best practices of media literacy but to also pursue my MA in Educational Media with a concentration in Media Literacy through Appalachian State University.
Listed below are classes I have taken that relate specifically to Media Literacy:
CI 5635 - Curriculum and Development
CI 5630 - Instructional Technology
CI 5636 - Emerging Issues and Trends in Media Literacy
CI 5830 - Media Literacy
CI 5940 - Media Image and Influence
